Of course, the argument of the team members in-house makes sense. You will have an individual who will work with you constantly. As well as being available to maintain continuous campaign, they will be able to get fully involved in your business and immerse yourself completely in your business. The more they learn, the better they will be able to manage your PPC campaign. And they become assets you invest in and increase its value. As your company grows, so do they, eventually you build your own team.
But there are flaws in the reasoning above, the forces of nature an institution. The first is the adage that two heads are better than one. A single individual will not have anyone to work with and collaborate. A good institution is greater than the sum of it’s parts and collaborations that can lead to some of the best ideas. Besides, what if you are a member of staff PPC sick? Or go on vacation? Without them around, who will look after your campaign?
Power of having people in the house but the weakness of institutions. They can not dedicate the same amount of time for your company because they have a whole portfolio of clients to cater to. A good agency will make every effort to learn and over the years I have learned a lot about the different products and services that I never thought I would know nothing about. However, it was not as much as if I had spent all my time on one product or service. And while a good agency relationship is a sound investment, it would not be the same as building your own team.
In practice, it is not an easy question to answer. However, in my experience the solution should be simple. Getting both.
If you can afford to hire an individual for your PPC head, compliment them with strong institutions to work with them. This way you will get the benefits of both worlds. Over time you can build your PPC team up (should your budget allows) and then you may not need the body. Getting a team of specialists at your campaign PPC lead manager other than myself will help you, through a combination of dedicated and collaboration time, your account grows.
What if you can not afford both? Well, if it’s a choice between one or the other, to be honest a good agent is better. I’m not just saying that (even though I work for an agency).
